Guitarist and songwriter Tapio Ylinen founded his record label Eclipse Music in 2007. The label soon became one of the essential publishers of contemporary jazz and progressive music in Finland. He has released three albums as a recording artists. In his songs Tapio channels together the sensitivity of the great singer-songwriters with classic rock sounds, blues guitar and a touch of progressive rock styles. Educated in both music and the dramatic arts he is an expert storyteller both musically and lyrically.
In addition to his solo work Ylinen is a member of two other bands in the Eclipse Music artist roster: Juhani Valkama’s ensemble and folk rockers Tammela 33100. He also plays guitar with the Pink Floyd tribute band PULSE and works as a freelance radio host.
In 2019 Ylinen’s suite of instrumental compositions were released as a concept album by a Finnish jazz supergroup Mortality with contributions for the arrangements by Verneri Pohjola, Teemu Viinikainen, Pauli Lyytinen, Aki Rissanen and Jori Huhtala.
